Does the technology I help to build really matter?
When your career is focused on delivering better care for more people, then the answer is a resounding “yes.”
Here at Philips, we know that the well-being of patients and healthcare professionals depends on the creativity, problem-solving abilities, and innovative minds of our technology teams. But what do our tech experts value most about working at Philips? This is what they told us:
You’re saving lives (including, possibly, your own)
“The fact that you’re working on a product where every second could save the life of a patient is huge,” says Taif Altememy, a Scrum Master and Agile Coach based in Best, the Netherlands. “It makes you feel proud to know you’re helping to save people’s lives.”
Rob Nicholson, a Software Leader from the United Kingdom, agrees: “The line of code that I write today could be the critical line that affects someone’s mother, someone’s wife, or someone’s child tomorrow. And one day it might help a member of your family…or even you yourself.”
That’s something Rafael Takano knows all too well: “I was treated as a patient by a product that I helped to develop,” says the Software Leader based in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. “So that’s the value of working in healthcare: it’s not only for me and my work, but also for me as a person, for my family, and for society as a whole.”
You get to work with cutting-edge technologies
Our tech experts also enjoy working with trailblazing technologies, which keep them at the top of their game. “Philips is investing in and focusing on incorporating AI into our products, which means we keep learning and growing,” explains Fatima Al Zahra, a Project Manager in Eindhoven.
You’re innovating the future of healthcare
Working at such a large health technology company also means you’re contributing to an ecosystem of solutions that’s helping to change the future of healthcare itself. “Philips is an innovative company,” says Tiblets Demies, a Data and AI Scientist in Eindhoven. “So, we’re working on not only what’s needed today but also looking to the future and asking ourselves: what we can do better?” Rob Nicholson agrees: “I come to work every day to have an impact on the world. We’re at the forefront of technology, building market-leading products that really matter.”
